Preserve the Details That Make a Home Historic
Historic buildings are full of character: hand-carved trim, decorative molding, ornate corner blocks, unique woodwork you can’t buy at a big-box store.
But when those pieces break, rot, or disappear over time, replacing them can feel impossible.
That’s where Sisters of Sawdust comes in.
We specialize in scanning historic wooden architectural details, creating accurate 3D models, and reproducing them using wood-based 3D printing. This means the details you love can live on for generations.
How It Works
1. On-Site Scanning
We visit your home or project site to digitally scan the original piece — whether it’s trim, a decorative block, a rosette, or another architectural element.
Even fragile or damaged pieces can often be captured.
3. Wood-Filament Printing
We recreate the piece using wood-infused filament, producing a durable, paintable, stainable replica that blends beautifully into historic interiors.
Typical printed pieces range from small decorative accents to functional trim components.
2. Digital Modeling
Using the scan, we build a detailed 3D model that preserves the shape, scale, and craftsmanship of the original.
This model becomes a permanent digital record — and can be reused anytime you need another copy.
4. Ready for Restoration
Your finished piece arrives ready to install, finish, paint, or stain — helping restore the integrity and beauty of your historic space.
